Birmingham-based Christian & Small LLP today announced that Partner Kenneth O. Simon, Esq., will leave the firm to open an new office for Denver-based Judicial Arbiter Group, or JAG.
Simon leaves the firm after 11 years to further his dispute resolution practice in Birmingham, according to a release from Christian & Small.
JAG provides legal and business communities with dispute resolution programs, such as mediation and arbitration.
"As I have focused my practice more specifically on mediation and arbitration and less on litigation, I have found that I am conflicted out of a significant number of projects here at Christian & Small," Simon said in a written statement. "While I am excited to embark on this new opportunity, I'm sad to be leaving such a strong, remarkable firm and some of the finest, most talented lawyers in our profession."
JAG President Bill Meyer said hiring the former judge will serve to boost the firm's capabilities, along with its Alabama footprint.
"Judicial Arbiter Group is very excited about hiring former judge Ken Simon," Meyer said in a written statement. "Ken's breadth of experience in litigation and alternative dispute resolution, coupled with his respected judicial reputation, make him the perfect fit for expanding the Judicial Arbiter Group into Birmingham and the Southeast."
